Climate Adaptation Index in Leaflet

The global effects of climate change will not be felt equally. The Notre Dame Global Adaptation Initiative (ND-GAIN) Country Index "summarizes a country's vulnerability to climate change and other global challenges in combination with its readiness to improve resilience. It aims to help governments, businesses and communities better prioritize investments for a more efficient response to the immediate global challenges ahead."

To the left is a interactive map made with the Leaflet library for open-source webmapping. The data displays each country's index score for the year 2019.

Quindío, Colombia

In 2019 I was lucky to travel with my dad to Colombia, where we hiked into the paramo landscape of Los Nevados National Park. The beauty of this region inspired the creation of this map of the park.

I attempted to give a kind of Imhof-styled shaded relief to the Andes mountains, and love the vintage feel that Sara Bell's BellTopo Sans fontface provides.

Nova Scotia, Canada

In the fall of 2020, a series of attacks by white Nova Scotian residents were carried out towards Mi'kmaw lobster fishermen and their moderate livelihood fishing fleet.

This map describes some of the events of this time.

The Himalayas

This was one of the maps I made for the 2021 #30DayMapChallenge, fulfilling the "Red" day of the annual Twitter challenge. The red panda (ailurus fulgens) is endangered, mostly due to anthropogenic deterioration of their high montane forest habitat. They are now listed as such on the IUCN Red List.
