Protecting an urban forest through the mapping of its ecosystem services
The Fairview Forest was in danger of being bulldozed to make way for condominiums in 2020. To support the Friends of the Fairview Forest group, I helped map the various ecologic characteristics of the urban forest in Point Claire, as well as the ecosystem services it provides. These included the digitizing of forest stands, vernal pools, and the representation of canopy height models, tree counts, and the forest's role in the context of the urban heat island.

Three friends and I presented our final project in a water pollution class, to encourage smokers to dispose of their cigarette butts properly.
